How it works
Signing up couldn't be easier. From sign up to the start line, we're there to help you and answer any questions or concerns you may have. There are no hidden set up fees or minimum term contracts as we don’t believe in charging you before you know we’re the right fit and want to ensure you’re happy with the level of detail and service you receive with JM Coaching. We’re confident that we can deliver excellent value from day one of your coaching journey with us. Part of coaching ethos is that a happy runner = a fast runner!
Drop us a message and we'll talk through your goals, history and lifestyle before recommending the right level of coaching for your needs or suggest a one off training plan if that's more suited to you.
Complete a thorough training questionnaire so your coach understands exactly where you're at and what you're working towards. From here we'll fit you with the right coach based on your responses.
Your schedule is posted weekly via TrainingPeaks, which is always personalised to you, adapting based on your training progress and feedback. Along the way you'll be able to communicate with your own personal coach and join our running community.
Arrive at the start line feeling confident and ready to run. We build backwards from your goal race to make sure you peak at the right time. Don't worry if you don't have a race in mind, we can help runners achieve a range of goals.
We share a consultation questionnaire with all runners, the more detail you can provide the better we can help you. Based on your response you will be fitted with your own personal coach, or if you have a preference please share this with us during the sign up phase so we can confirm availability. From here the coach will analyse the data in your sign up form and review it with you on your kick off call (for Gold and Silver coaching levels). We'll share three weeks worth of coaching with you at the start to make sure that you're fully satisfied and happy with the detail within the training plan, as well as ensuring it's pitched right for you. Don't worry, if things change and we need to make amends to your initial three weeks' training we can do this, just like at any other stage of your coaching plan. It's just nice to see at the start exactly what you have coming up and gives you a chance to ask questions. Calls can be performed via video link or on the phone, whatever you feel most comfortable with.
At any stage of the sign up process or during your ongoing coaching relationship, please don't be afraid to ask questions. That's what we're here for. If you're thinking it, the chances are another runner has too, and trust us, over the years we've heard just about all of the so called 'silly' questions. In our eyes there's no such thing, and we encourage all our runners to stay curious and ask questions along the way.
From the initial consultation call, you can often get valuable insight into what might potentially be holding you back or causing you to continually break down with injury. We can help you understand your strengths and weaknesses as a runner and learn more about you as a person. This enables us to see if you're already heading in the right direction and might just need some small tweaks to your weekly plan, or whether larger wholesale changes are needed to really maximise your potential.
Your training is delivered on a weekly or occasionally fortnightly basis to ensure we make changes based on your feedback, how you're feeling, and how you're responding to training. This is informed by the phase of training you're in, historical training data, background, terrain, and any upcoming races, all fitted around your work and life schedule. So if you have a last minute work trip, don't panic. Message us and we'll adjust your plan so you can relax, safe in the knowledge you're still getting the key runs in each week.
